My Story
Hi, My name is Kieko.
Several years ago, I was asked to support an international couple who had secured what they believed was their dream property in Kyoto.
I became their liaison, serving as the cultural and linguistic bridge between them and a web of stakeholders: a real estate agent, a master carpenter (daiku), government officials — and a neighbor who remained hesitant and uncooperative about having foreign residents next door.
What unfolded was a complex, multi-layered process — from costly land surveys to delicate negotiations, all within the intricate regulatory environment unique to Kyoto’s historic landscape.
Through these challenges, I witnessed how even the most carefully planned dream home can face unexpected obstacles, despite successful property acquisition.
That pivotal experience illuminated a profound truth: my clients needed far more than translation services during difficult moments. They deserved a culturally fluent partner who could anticipate challenges, orchestrate seamless communication, and provide unwavering support throughout their entire Kyoto journey—ideally from the very beginning.
This realization crystallized my core philosophy: buying a home is never just a transaction. It is the beginning of a life — about community and the quiet joy of loving where and who you are.
This philosophy became the foundation of Welcome Home KYOTO: a bespoke concierge service built on absolute partnership and cultural expertise. I guide discerning international clients through every nuance of Kyoto’s real estate landscape, ensuring that from your very first inquiry, you feel supported, understood, and authentically at home.
